Button threatens to quit if team order rules become reality

BUtton further said he would never want to win the title by ordering a teammate to move over.

Reigning Formula One world champion Jenson Button has launched a fierce attack on plans to allow team orders in the sport.

Button has warned that he could walk away from F1 if teams are allowed to fix races in favor of one driver from next season.

“I am against team orders and I don’t think they are correct in any way. If it becomes legal and allowed,I won’t be very happy. For me,it’s not the way it should be,” The Sun quoted Button,as saying.

“If team orders come in then I’ll consider my future. I wouldn’t stop right away, but I’d definitely shorten my career in F1,” he added.

The 30-year-old further said that he would never want to win the title by ordering a teammate to move over.

“I don’t understand why anyone would want to race in those circumstances – unless you are here for other reasons than I am. I’m here because I’m passionate about the sport and want to win. I want to beat every driver out there,” Button said.

“But if you are here for other reasons, maybe you don’t mind moving over for your team-mate. I’ve been racing for 10 years and never been told to move over and neither have my teammates,” he added.
