Delhi govt blacklists firm for bridge collapse,orders probe

A notice for black-listing has been served on the PNR Infrastructure.

Delhi Government blacklisted the firm which was constructing the foot overbridge outside the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium that collapsed today and formed a two-member committee to probe the incident in which 27 people were injured.

The Government also announced a compensation of Rs one lakh for each of those sustaining grievous injuries and Rs 50,000 to the other injured people.

“We have set up a panel to probe the incident. The construction company has also been blacklisted,” Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit told reporters.

She said the panel comprising retired Director General of CPWD H S Dogra and D K Gupta of IIT,Delhi will look into the cause of the incident and suggest remedial measures. The team has been asked to submit its report within a fortnight.

Dikshit also went to AIIMS to meet the injured persons.

A notice for black-listing has been served on the PNR Infrastructure,the construction company,for this mishap,a senior official of the PWD Department,which had given the contract to the firm,said.
