Roger Federer dominated Andy Murray on Tuesday at the ATP World Tour Finals and stretched his record to 2-0 at the season-ending event by winning 6-4,6-2. Federer looked unstoppable at the O2 Arena, losing only eight points on his serve in the match three in the first set and 5 in the second.
Im surprised,I really am,that I was able to win my service games that comfortably, said the second-ranked Federer, who won 63 points to Murrays 43. Thats not to the norm against Andy, who is one of the best return players,if not the best,in the game right now. So Ill take that is all I can say.
Murray, however, dropped to 1-1 and will have to improve if he is to reach the semifinals. He will face Ferrer in his final match Thursday while Soderling takes on Federer.
Murray struggled from the start Tuesday, forced to save a break point in the opening game. And it was his serve that was letting him down most of the way, landing only 44 percent of the first serves.
I returned poorly, served poorly. Against him, thats not going to win you the match, Murray said, who is 8-6 overall against Federer.
Earlier,top-ranked Rafael Nadal beat Andy Roddick 3-6,7-6 (5),6-4 and third-ranked Novak Djokovic defeated Tomas Berdych 6-3,6-3.
