Sports Minister MS Gill urged the industry chieftains to take a cue from Sahara India Pariwar and adopt an Olympic sport of their choice.
Hailing Sahara’s decision to adopt 13 boxers and 17 wrestlers for the next four years besides upgrading the Bhiwani Boxing Club and Guru Hanuman Akhara,Gill said time was ripe for other corporate houses to play their part.
“I’m very happy to see that Sahara has taken up the responsibility to support Indian wrestling and boxing in a major way right upto 2012 London Olympics and beyond,” Gill said.
“I congratulate them and I call upon all other Industry captains to take up a game each of their choice and extend similar help,” he added.
Gill said corporate help was a must if India were to win more medals at international meets. “If India wants to win more gold medals, then our rich industry captains must extend a helping hand to the Indian sports persons,” Gill said.
