Innocent Pak Sikh detained for ‘spying’

Diljit Singh was detained in Bahawalpur city on Thursday on suspicion of spying for India.

A Pakistani Sikh was taken into custody by an intelligence agency in Punjab province on charges of spying for India and briefly detained till his innocence was proved,police officials said on Friday.

He was set free on Friday,the officials said.

According to police,Singh,a quack,was “illegally practicing” in Bahawalpur,some 500 km from Lahore.

“Officials of an intelligence agency picked him following an unconfirmed report that he was spying for India,” a police official said.

After nothing was established against Singh,the intelligence agency released him this afternoon.
