IPL 2013 preview: Delhi Daredevils still in search of first win

Delhi Daredevils will look to register their first win when they take on RCB today.

Delhi Daredevils will look to register their first win when they take on the dangerous Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bangalore today.

We are in the third week of the tournament and the Delhi franchise is yet to open their account. Touted to be a major title contender this season, the team has failed to put up a good show in their previous fixtures.

It will now be a difficult journey up the points table as the Mahela Jayawardene-led unit will now have to win a lot of games from here on. There is no scope for complacency, and the team will have to step up their game.

What can we expect today

Fireworks, fireworks and some more fireworks. Why will you not when the likes of Chris Gayle,Virender Sehwag,David Warner,Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are on the field. The Chinnaswamy crowd will be under fire, and it is advised they carry proper gear to tackle the balls sailing into the stands.

Why we say so? Look at the staggering numbers

Number of sixes in the tournament so far

Chris Gayle: 14

Virat Kohli: 10

David Warner: 5

AB de Villiers: 3

Pace vs Spin

It will be a good contest between the Delhi seamers and Bangalore spinners. Delhi boast a formidable pace heavy line-up,led by the lanky Morne Morkel. Bangalore,on the other hand, have a lot of variety in their ranks, and the two Muralis (Murali Kartik and Muttiah Muralitharan) possess enough skill to outclass any opponent.

Virender Sehwag. Will he fire?

Delhi desperately want fit-again Sehwag to fire today, and solve their opening miseries. The right-hander,along with the belligerent Warner, can tear any attack apart. In such desperate times, the opener will have to get his act right and give his team a much-needed push.

Battle of the Delhi boys

The very intense Virat Kohli will be up against some of his former state teammates (Virender Sehwag,Ashish Nehra and Unmukt Chand). Get your coke and popcorn ready,an exciting face-off on the cards.

“bhogleharsha always beware of a wounded lion,buddy.. The DelhiDaredevils boys will fight to the end.. We are a top 4 side! Hope u well..,” he tweeted in reply to Harsha Bhogle.

“kevinpp24 sadly kp,your team looks it has a fairly solid brace too. thought they would be better.guess top order needs to put runs on board,” Bhogle tweeted earlier.
