Landslide in Philippines kills five workers

Philippine police say five construction workers have died after the land they were digging collapsed and buried them.

Senior Superintendent Gerardo Rosales said on Wednesday the workers were preparing the foundation for a house in southern Cagayan de Oro city when the landslide occurred.

Rescuers retrieved the bodies shortly after yesterday’s landslide.

Rosales says investigators are looking into the possibility the construction company failed to implement safety measures. The weather was fine when the landslide happened.
