Ed Harris,the Academy Award-nominated star of Apollo 13,Pollock,The Truman Show and The Hours,has been chosen by HBO to play the role of John McCain,the senior US Senator. The movie,Game Change will chronicle McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign starting with his selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. HBO has previously announced that Julianne Moore of (The Kids Are All Right) will play Palin in the film,which will be directed by Jay Roach (Dinner for Schmucks) and written by Danny Strong. Roach and Strong previously collaborated on the HBO movie Recount,about the backroom battles that followed the 2000 president election. A broadcast date for Game Change has not yet been announced.

Bradley Cooper’s increasing star power helped lift Limitless to a stronger-than-expected $19 million in ticket sales over the weekend,easily making this supernatural thriller No 1 at North American theatres. Produced for about $27 million,Limitless,about a writer who discovers a secret drug that gives him special powers,gives Relativity Media’s fledgling distribution operation a much-needed win. Rango (Paramount Pictures) was second with about $15.3 million in sales for a three-week total of $92.6 million,according to Hollywood.com,which compiles box office data.

Taylor is heading to a New York City auction. It’s estimated to bring $20 million. The Wall Street Journal reports that “Liz (hash)5” is owned by hedge-fund manager Steven Cohen. The 1963 silkscreen will be sold at Phillips de Pury at its contemporary art sale on May 12. The actress died on Wednesday at age 79. The portrait shows the screen siren smiling and her eyelids covered in blue eye shadow. It comes from Warhol’s 1960s series of pop culture icons like Jacqueline Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe . The Journal says Cohen bought the portrait for an undisclosed sum from the estate of a major New York dealer. He declined to comment.
