MJ raked in $90 mln since his death: Forbes

MJ is amongst the top earning dead celebrities,with merchandising deals bringing in the moolah.

Raking in USD 90 million in just four months after his death,the king of pop Michael Jackson has emerged as one of the top earning dead celebrities,with most of the income coming from merchandising deals.

The list of most earning celebrities compiled by Forbes magazine,is topped French fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent.

“Though his afterlife earnings didn’t land him atop the list,as many had anticipated,few celebrity deaths have garnered more media attention.

“Since his June passing,Jackson’s estate has sold an estimated 9 million albums worldwide plus more than 5.5 million digital downloads,” the publication said.

Jackson’s earnings were bolstered by a merchandising deal and the rights to the use of his name and likeness in the Sony film ‘This Is It’.

Yves Saint Laurent,cornered the top position after the late fashion designer grossed a whopping USD 443 million from sale of his personal items.

The 13 iconic figures on Forbes’ list of the Top-Earning Dead Celebrities grossed a collective USD 886 million in the past 12 months.

Broadway legends Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein,were ranked in the second position,after they made a massive USD 235 million in the past 12 months.
