More than half of Pakistanis anti-India: Poll

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardaris recent claim that he does not consider India as a threat to his country,is not at all supported by a majority of Pakistanis,an opinion poll has shown.

According Washington based International Republican Institute poll,there is an intriguing split in attitude towards India,with 45 per cent favourable towards India,and 52 per cent unfavourable.

Interestingly,the poll also shows 42 per cent of Pakistanis believing that the Indian intelligence agencies are behind the Mumbai terror attack,while 20 per cent blamed the United States for the carnage,The New York Times reports.

The poll shows that about 81 per cent of people believe their country is headed in the wrong direction,and blamed Zardari for the chaos.

The poll,which was conducted in March just before the Taliban started expanding its writ from the Swat Valley to other parts of the province,shows only 10 percent of Pakistanis considering terrorism as the most important issue facing the country. They ranked the economy at the top of their concern.
