In an action-packed I-League match played at the Cooperage ground on Tuesday,Mumbai FC thrashed Kolkata outfit Mohammedan Sporting 3-0 and moved to fourth position in the standings.

Mohammedan Sporting attacked early on and got a chance to score in the 9th minute but Jyoti Kumar was late in putting the ball past the Mumbai FC defence. The visitors,in fact, had several chances to score but all in vain due to their fumbling forwards. Their foreign recruit Mike Okoro was off colour, their wingers were ineffective and there was a lack of coordination within the team.

Thereafter,it were Mumbai who controlled the proceedings throughout the rest of the match. They had a chance in the 10th minute but Felix was late in responding to a cross from Abel Hammond on the left. Mumbai made amends in the 35th minute when Riston Rodrigues received the ball just outside the box and placed it inside the far post, leaving Mohammedan custodian Tharangachan diving in vain.

Mumbai FC extended the lead in the 44th minute when Kalia Kulothungan tapped the ball past Tharangachan after receiving from Hammond. Mohammedan coach Shabbir Ali used all his substitutes in an attempt to bolster the attack but all were ineffective.

The ball remained confined to the Mohammedan half. The hosts made the scoreline 3-0 in the 74th minute after Hammond set up the ball for an unmarked Abhishek Yadav.
