Englands fast bowlers shared the spoils as the hosts won the first of their five-match ODI series by 15 runs at Lords here on Friday.
Tim Bresnan,Steve Finn,James Anderson and Stuart Broad took two wickets apiece as the Australian wickets fell at regular intervals. George Bailey and David Warner put on 76 runs for the second wicket and Brett Lee led a rearguard charge but things were always going to be difficult once captain Michael Clarke was dismissed on 61,with Australia on 214/7.
Earlier,Clarke decided to field under overcast conditions and the decision looked to be working as England openers Alastair Cook and Ian bell found the going difficult early on. But the hosts managed to post 272/5 with Eoin Morgan contributing a swashbuckling unbeaten 89 from 63 balls.
