Shakib Al Hasan wins Wisden best player award

Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has been voted The Wisden Cricketer magazine’s 2009 world test player of the year. The magazine said in a statement Thursday that the 22-year old Bangladesh allrounder,who only made his test debut in 2007,topped a list that included some of the game’s most celebrated players.

“I’m so excited,” Shakib said. “The honor will inspire me further.”

Shakib,who led Bangladesh to their first overseas test series victory against West Indies in July,is the first Bangladesh player to win the award. The award was based on points awarded by Wisden correspondents.
