Prakash Amritraj crashed out of the ATP Challenger event in Calabasas,US after a 6-2 6-2 defeat against American Michael Yani in the quarter-finals but Harsh Mankad earned a shot at the doubles title by reaching the final. Harsh and his Philippine partner Treat Conrad Huey entered the final of the doubles event after thrashing Gustavo Sanchez of Venezuela and American Craig Schwartz 6-4 6-0.

Tottenham,Villa miss chance

Tottenham,Aston Villa and Sunderland all missed good chances to close on the leading teams at the top of the Premier League. Tottenham could have gone level on points with leaders Manchester United with victory but stayed in third place after a 1-0 loss to visiting Stoke,while Aston Villa drew 1-1 at Wolves.

Sunderland were hoping to move into the top four but lost 2-1 at Birmingham. Hugo Rodallega scored twice to lead Wigan to a 3-1 win at Burnley,while Portsmouth and Hull stayed in the bottom three after a 0-0 draw at KC Stadium.

Pune FC hold Mumbai FC 1-1

Mumbai FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Pune FC in the fourth round of the I-league on Saturday. Skipper Shanmugam Venkatesh scored early for Pune FC,while Mumbai FC clawed back through a 21st minute goal from Darren Calderia.

SAI,Mizoram in final

SAI (Kolkata) beat Town High School,Orissa 5-3 on penalties to reach the under-17 final of the Subroto Cup after the teams were tied at 1-1 at full time. They will play Government Central Higher Secondary School,Mizoram for the title who beat Chandigarh Football Academy 1-0 in the other semi-final. Charity School,Nagaland and Sukanta Nagar Vidyaniketan,West Bengal will play in the under-14 final.

Pucay closes in on Rai

Mars Pucay of the Philippines posted a second round seven-under-par 65 Saturday to close in on Indias Himmat Rai at the Iskandar Johor Open. Rai continues to hold on to his lead with his two-day total of 13-under-par 131.
