Jamaican sprint star Usain Bolt will compete in the rarely contested 300m race for the first time at the traditional Czech Golden Spike meet in May. Organisers said on Wednesday that Bolt,who holds the world record in 100 and 200 metres,will attempt to break the world mark in the distance on May 27 in Ostrava. Michael Johnson holds the current mark of 30.85 seconds. I have done some 300s in training so I am used to the distance but this will be my first time to race it, Bolt said. If the weather is good I hope to run a fast time.

Beckham in London after injury

David Beckham arrived in London with his wife Victoria on Wednesday after flying in from the Finnish clinic where he had surgery for a torn Achilles tendon. With his left leg in a cast,Beckham flew in on a private jet. He injured his foot on Sunday and will be sidelined for about six months,forcing him to miss the World Cup in South Africa.

Yousuf can play in Bdesh: PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board has given permission for Mohammad Yousuf to play in Bangladesh. Last week the PCB barred Yousuf and Younis Khan from representing Pakistan for an indefinite period due to infighting. PCB spokesman Nadeem Sarwar said the chairman of the cricket board Ijaz Butt has allowed Yousuf to compete in a Bangladesh private league.

Terry involved in accident

Chelsea have confirmed that captain John Terry was involved in an accident outside Stamford Bridge on Tuesday which resulted in a club security officer suffering a leg injury. The Metropolitan Police said on Wednesday that they were called to an incident after Chelseas Champions League defeat by Inter Milan. Police were called shortly before 11.15 pm on Tuesday to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian, a Met Police spokesman said. Chelsea said Terry had not been aware of the incident at the time but spoke to the police when he was told about it.

Portsmouth docked 9 points

Portsmouth face certain relegation from the English Premier League after being docked nine points on Wednesday for going into administration last month. The debt-laden south-coast club are the first Premier League team to suffer a points penalty for entering administration. They now have just 10 points and are 17 points adrift of the safety zone with just nine games remaining.

Force India to give di Resta drive

Britains Paul di Resta will drive for Force India in the first practice session at next weeks Australian Grand Prix and in Malaysia the following Friday,the Formula One team said on Tuesday. A team spokeswoman said the 23-year-old test driver would replace German race regular Adrian Sutil in the Melbourne session and Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi at Sepang. Australia will mark the Scots track debut at a Grand Prix weekend.
