Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds could be in trouble again as Cricket Australia has taken note of his bizarre radio rant in which he labelled big-hitting Kiwi Brendon McCullum a lump of s….
Symonds made the comments live on air on radio station network Triple M and the show hosts were heard giggling as he babbled on about McCullum and Matthew Haydens wife, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.
Symonds had taken a swipe at NSW for signing McCullum at the expense of a local player for the KFC Big Bash Twenty20 final against Victoria. Theyre trying to use him (McCullum) as the out because hes a Kiwi. Yep,we love to hate them, but hes the lump of s…,sorry, lump of cow dirt, that people are thinking of, Symonds had told the show hosts.
It doesnt matter about McCullum, mate,he could have been Irish,he still would have got it. Its not his fault, hes doing his job and trying to earn a wage. But what happened here is an injustice. Daniel Smith, his opposite number was going to miss out. But they said this morning that Daniel Smith is going to play, but at the end of day somebody is still going to miss out, Symonds said.
Asked about his good mate and recently retired Matthew Haydens cooking,Symonds replied that he takes a side glance at Haydens wife as it helps the meal go down amply well.
CA spokesman Peter Young said he had forwarded the recording of the show to acting chief executive Michael Brown. Symonds has had a tumultuous last 12 months, which had seen him being sent home for missing a team meeting in the gone fishing affair, followed by a Brisbane pub brawl.
The latest stunt is likely to cause him more problems as he tries to make a comeback into the Test team for the South Africa tour next month.
