Two more granted bail on count of parity with Sreesanth,Chavan

A Delhi court on Tuesday granted bail to two more accused in the IPL spot-fixing scandal on the grounds of parity with cricketers S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan of Rajasthan Royals and 16 others,who were given the identical relief on Monday.

Additional Sessions Judge Vinay Kumar Khanna released bookies Rakesh alias Rocky and Amit Kumar Singh on bail while directing them to furnish their personal bonds in the sum of Rs 50,000 with the surety of the like amount.

18 other co-accused have been granted bail. Considering the facts and circumstances,nature of accusation and role of the applicants/accused Amit Kumar Singh and Rakesh alias Rocky are admitted on bail…, the court said.

On Monday the court had granted bail to 18,besides the two cricketers,observing that there was no reason to believe that the accused were guilty under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) at this stage,so they couldn’t be kept in jail.

While allowing the duo’s bail plea,the court has also imposed the condition that they shall not directly or indirectly make any inducement threat,or promise to any person acquainted with facts of the case,so as to dissuade him to disclose such facts to the court or to the investigating agency.

It also asked them to surrender their passports and not to leave the country.

Delhi Police have so far arrested 26 persons,including Sreesanth and two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates — Chavan and Ajit Chandila — in connection with the case. Besides the 20 who were granted bail by the court till date,five others are now in judicial custody till June 18,while one of the alleged mega bookies,Ramesh Vyas,is in police custody till June 18.

Vyas was arrested by the Mumbai police crime branch and was handed over to Delhi police after its sought his remand to unearth the deep rooted conspiracy.

Sreesanth’s friend Abhishek Shukla,arrested for allegedly removing the cricketer’s money and articles from his hotel room,was granted bail on May 30,after the court had held that no case of cheating and criminal breach of trust was made out against him. The court,on Wednesday,will hear the bail applications of Chandila,Ashwani Aggarwal,Deepak Kumar,Sunil Bhatiya and Babu Rao Yadav.

Meanwhile,the court will also take up the application for police remand of accused Sunil Bhatiya,who is to be confronted with Vyas. In their remand application,the Delhi police have said that they have call interception of Sunil with Vyas,who was acting on command of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel in South India.
