United SC to lock horns against Lajong tomorrow

United have 17 points from 10 matches compared to Lajong's 12.

Having suffered their first defeat after 10 matches,United SC would hope to bounce back when they take on Shillong Lajong FC in a round 11 I-League fixture at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan tomorrow.

Seen as a balanced outfit from the city,United SC had remained unbeaten and seemed heading towards the top of the table just two weeks back.

But their campaign took a blow after losing to their namesake team from Kerala in the last round.

However, bolstered by the return of Lalkamal Bhowmick,Deepak Mondal,Jayanta Sen and Kayne Vincent,United SC would now look to go for maximum against the Shillong outfit who would be lying low on confidence after suffering a 0-6 whitewash against leaders Dempo in the last round.

United SC coach Sanjoy Sen,however, was not in a mood to read too much into Lajong’s big loss.

This is a marathon league. Any team can have an off-day. Moreover, the result of the last match is irrelevant, said Sen.

Lajong are a very fit and capable side. They can take any team for a ride. We need to be cautious. Our goal is to get nine points from our remaining three matches in the first-leg and move up the table, he said.
