Ubiquitous gadgetry may soon invade our bathrooms as well,as a report has suggested that bathrooms of the future are likely to become incredibly hi-tech.
Instead of just being utilitarian spaces where people clean and preen themselves, bathrooms will probably become more interactive and connected to the flood of information we receive in other parts of our lives.
The report, compiled for bathroom provider Ideal Standard International, shows how the way people use and behave in their bathrooms is changing, reports the Telegraph.
Drawing on predictions by designers and futurologists,it also puts forward a vision for how our water closets of the future could look.
Among the innovations, they say could appear, will be the shower curtains which will involve the use of flexible display technology to allow home owners to read the news and even watch videos as they get ready in the morning and floors which can change their texture to mimic walking on sand or even snow.
There would be interactive mirrors, which will provide tips on how to apply make-up and which can make video calls to friends or family members.
One of the most unusual technological development envisaged for the bathroom in the report were walls that could be moulded to produce washbasins, taps and lavatories as they are needed.
