Finding discrepancies in the statement of Priyanka Todi, the CBI cross examined her at her father’s residence in Salt Lake on Thursday.

A CBI team went to the house of Ashok Todi at around 9 am and interrogated Priyanka, her mother Vimla Todi and some other family members. According to CBI sources, Priyanka’s statement had many discrepancies. She denied that it was pressure from her family members that led to her separation from Rizwanur Rehman.

CBI officials, who have now confirmed that Rizwanur was under pressure to dissolve his marriage, grilled Ashok Todi for the second consecutive day. Realtor Syed Hasan Ali, who allegedly threatened Rizwanur’s family, was also questioned along with some senior police officers.

“We are continuing our interrogation of Ashok Todi and others and verifying their statements. We are also evaluating the doctor’s opinion regarding the post-mortem,” said Arun Kumar, Joint Director of the CBI Special Crime Branch.

“We have found evidence that Ashok not only created pressure, but also threatened Rizwanur using the help of some police officers. Ashok’s statement has confirmed this. There are discrepancies in her statement regarding what happened after Rizwanur’s death. For instance, Priyanka said her father told her on September 23 that Rizwanur had met with an accident, whereas her father’s statement does not corroborate,” said a CBI source.
