Amethi will now have a special guest on the last Saturday of every month. Party sources say that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will periodically visit her mother’s constituency.It is being seen as Priyanka’s first step towards actively participating in grass-roots politics of Uttar Pradesh. ‘‘The fact that she could be constantly responding to grass-roots issues in the state will have relevance even at the national level,’’ a senior leader from UP said. In the short-term, Congress leaders expect, her presence will rejuvenate the party in the state which does not have anywhere to go but up.Priyanka is also expected to meet the 16 block presidents and districts presidents in Amethi during her monthly visits. They had offered to travel to Delhi every weekend to brief Priyanka. However, she assured them that she would visit them in Amethi.
