
CHANDIGARH, Feb 22: DPI Chandigarh Administration today declared the results of vocational competitions held in November last year. The winners of the state-level vocational competitions will be given prizes during the prize distribution function being held on February 25. About 80 students will get the awards.
The names of the winners of some contests in order of merit are as follows —Fashion designing: Suruchi, Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, rashim, GGSSS, Sector 23, Sukhwinder, GGSSS, Sector 20.
Bakery and confectionery: Nafis Khan, GSSS, Sector 27, Vikram and Tarun Taneja, GSSS, Sector 27.
Yoga: Rekha, GMSSS, Sector 40, Nitu Singh, GGSSS, Sector 8, Kausar Jahan, GGSSS, Sector 8.
Cataract surgeries
Chandigarh: Hundred cataract surgeries were performed free of cost at Sri Gurukrishan Sahib Eye Hospital, Sohana during a five-day eye camp, which concluded here yesterday. The surgeries were performed by Dr Mukesh C Aggarwal who had come from Florida. The camp was organised by Florida-based Maheshwari Charitable Foundation. "This is our fourth eye camp in India. We keep holding eye and cardiology camps in other countries also, says K Deepak Kapoor, chairman of the Foundation.
During the camp, medicines and lenses, were given free of cost to the patients. "We do consultation on retinal and glaucoma problems. About 900 persons visited the camp." The next camp will be held in Rishikesh in October, said Kapoor.
According to Hospital Administrator Satinderpal Singh, the patients, who required surgeries had been screened earlier during three eye camps at labour colonies in Sectors 25, 26, Phase VI and Phase X Mohali.
