PUNE, June 19: Shakuntala alias Shankari Malya Nayak, a 30-year-old brothel keeper operating from the red light areas of Budhwar Peth, was today arrested by the Faraskhana police on the charges of murdering Sunita Yallapa Dhotre, a 25-year-old prostitute.
Police said Shakuntala set afire Sunita following a squabble involving some domestic matters early this morning. Seriously injured Sunita was shifted to the Sassoon hospital where she died in the afternoon.
Shakuntala was angry with Sunita, who stayed at her residence, because Sunita had recently shifted elsewhere, according to the police. Besides, they added, Sunita owed an amount of Rs 7,000 to Shakuntala.
