A 19-year-old was shot dead allegedly by security forces, sparking off massive protest demonstrations in Panzla area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir today.

Abdul Rashid Lone, a Class XII student, was fired upon allegedly by the troops of Rashtriya Rifles during an ambush at Shalikote village around 6.30 am after they received information about movement of militants in the area.

As the news of the killing spread, people in large numbers assembled at his residence and took to the streets, blocking the road demanding action against the security personnel.

Meanwhile, in Jammu, a Special Police Officer was killed and four others, including an ASI were injured when the bomb they were trying to defuse exploded. SPO Hans Pal who was fiddling with the IED, died on the spot when the device exploded.The incident occurred in Udhampur district.
