
CHANDIGARH, Dec 29: Punjab University won third position in the All India Inter-University lifting championships which concluded at Raipur. Baljit Singh won a gold in 56kg while Bikramjit (82.5kg) and Aditya Man Singh (90kg) won silver medals. Hardeep (70kg) and Jagtar (80kg) won bronze. The PU team also won third position in Best Physique.
In weightlifting, Kuldip Singh (77kg) got a gold among men while Madhulika (63kg) got bronze among women.
Tari Club win
Tari Club won the first ICC cash prize ten-over-a-side cricket tournament beating Khalsa Club by 63 runs in the final here today. Gurpreet Singh was the man of the match. Scores: Tari: 129 for 6 (Gurpreet Singh 40) beat Khalsa: 66 for 7 (Saby 16; Daljit 2-2).
Edmund Rice cricket
Greens and Yellows won their respective matches in the St John’s Edmund Rice cricket tournament today.
Scores: Blues: 120 (Achint 26 n.o., Vinanya 14; Kritarth 4-20, Ashish 3-15) lost to Greens: 122 for 7 (Amrinder 40, Vikram 32). Reds: 136 for 8 (Mananeet 60, Samrat 2-9) lost to Yellows: 140 for 7 (Chaitanya 40, Ramandeep 36 n.o).
Power-lifting squad
The Chandigarh squad for participation in the Junior National power-lifting championship, to be held at Lucknow from January 4 to 8, was announced today.
