CHANDIGARH, Feb 26: The Punjab University and the Semi Conductor Complex Limited (SCL), SAS Nagar, have agreed upon offering a Master of Technology (M. Tech) degree course in Micro-electronics.
The decision was taken in a meeting of PU Vice-Chancellor M. M. Puri and M. J. Zarabi, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of SCL last week, following which the two signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the course.
According to the memorandum, the university and Semi Conductor Complex Limited, “will work out the exact details of cooperation on the basis of mutual discussions between the experts of the respective organisations”. However, it has been decided that the SCL will extend facilities and provide experts to teach PU students. The experts, in turn, will be accorded the status of visiting faculty members.
The memorandum is the outcome of the “PU’s attempt to enlarging its scope of interaction with the industry,” official sources pointed out.
The PU Vice-Chancellor and the Chairman-cum-Managing Director, SCL, will review the Memorandum of Understanding every three years, it has been resolved.
