MUMBAI, NOV 4: Minister for Medical Education and Public Health Digvijay Khanvilkar on Thursday urged the public to help the Government to rehabilitate the cyclone affected people of Orissa.

The Minister while addressing a meeting of Government officials and representatives of pharmaceutical companies at the Government Dental College said that concerned medical officials should keep in touch with the officials from Orissa and take steps to rehabilitate the affected persons. He also urged medical companies to provide medicines that can last for a long time. Secretary (Medical Education and Public Health) Thomas Benjamin said those companies who wished to send medicines should pack them in a manner that would ensure they last long.

Khanvilkar said that doctors from Maharashtra will be sent to Orissa to assist relief operations soon. On the occasion, R G Bansode, Director, Haffikine Bio Pharma donated Rs three lakh and B G Khadse, Director Haffkine Technical Institute donated Rs one lakh towards the cyclone victims. The amounts were handed over to the Minister. Dr D Y Patil Medcial College has also announced a donation of Rs two lakh.
