Public panic over rumour of abduction

BANGALORE, July 17: School managements in Vijayanagar in the City, police, andthe media wereon their toes all Thursday in the wake of rumours that some students had been kidnapped from a school after assaulting a teacher. The rumour, conveyed through anonymous telephone calls to newspaper offices soon spread, galvanizing the police into action, and sending parents rushing to schools to confirm the safety of their offsprings. Meanwhile, DCP Misar Ahmed told that no incident of kidnapping had taken place in any of the schools.
