Collegian dies in mishap
Puran Shakil Furniturewala, a 19-year-old collegian, was killed and his two friends seriously injured when their Tata Safari turned turtle after dashing against an electric pole in Lullanagar area at 5 a.m. on Monday.

Octroi windfall
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)’s octroi department recovered a whopping compounding fee of Rs 8.83 lakh from Baker and Gauges Company for evading duty on a grinding and boring machine weighing 9,700 kg.
A statement issued by Additional Municipal Commissioner Deepak Kapoor today stated that as part of `Operation Light’ campaign, the octroi department had intensified checking, during which they examined documents of the company which showed that octroi charges amounted to Rs 4.04 lakh on the machine worth Rs 1.33 lakh.
