PVA gets PMT chairman post
The post of the Pune Municipal Transport chairman will be allotted to the Pune Vikas Aghadi while its alliance partner in the Pune Municipal Corporation – the Bharatiya Janata Party – will be given the post of the vice-chairman of the school board.
With the elections to the post of PMT chairman slated on December 11, PVA leader Suresh Kalmadi held an informal meeting at his residence with BJP leaders to decide on the distribution of the elected posts among the parties. Incidentally, Shiv Sena leaders were conspicuous by their absence at the meeting.
Elections to the PMT chairman’s post has been necessitated with the present chairman Shyam Mankar’s term ending on December 11. Elections to the school board chairman will follow a month later while the elections to the post of standing committee chairman is scheduled in March next year. The next mayor too will be elected on March 20.
Out of the 13-member PMT committee, six seats belong to the PVA, three to Congress and 2 with BJP and Shiv Sena each. While a meeting will be held later between the Shiv Sena and the PVA to decide on which party should secure the post of the chairman of the PMC school board. The meeting however did not decide on the distribution of the remaining elected posts among the PVA, BJP and SS.
Bhosari deaths
The exact cause of the death of two workers at a chemical unit in Bhosari is yet to be ascertained even as the police interrogated with other workers and the officers on Sunday.
The viscera of the two workers, Ibrahim Mohammed Shaikh (45), and Devraj Pacharam Bhabedia (41) has been preserved at the Yeshwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital for chemical analysis.
The incident occured at Aqua Farm Chemical company at the S-block of the MIDC between Friday night and Saturday morning. The two workers on night duty were found in an unconscious stated and immediately shifted to a private hospital.
