Registered post to be accepted from today
In a contingency plan aimed at reducing the inconvenience caused to general public due to ongoing postal strike, the Post Master General Pune region V Sadasivam has proposed to accept registered post for booking in major post offices in the city and region. The service will come into effect from Monday (July 13).

A total of 23 major post offices in Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation areas collectively will offer this service.

Apart from Pune city, arrangements have also been made at all postal head offices and post offices up to tehsil headquarters in the district to accept the registered post, said Sadasivam while speaking to The Indian Express.

This is the second service after the speed post which has been partly revived by the postal department. “We propose to start the booking of registered post by assigning this additional work to the available staff. At present only 25 per cent staff is reporting on duty and hence the service is being made available at select centres,” said Sadasivam.

The list of post offices where the registered post will be accepted includes: Pune GPO, Pune City Head Office, Shivaji Nagar Head Office, SP College Post Office, Chinchwad East Post Office, Yerawada Post Office, Pimpri PF, IAT, NCL, NIA, Chinchwadgaon, Bhosari IE, Bhosarigaon, Pimpri Colony, PCNT, Dapodi, Kasarwadi, Market Yard, Dighi Camp, Aundh Camp, Pune New Bazar, Nehru Nagar, Masulkar Colony and Mahatma Phule Nagar.
