Corporators seek hike
Taking a clue from their seniors, members of Parliament, the elected representatives at the Pune Municipal Corporation have demanded a hike in their monthly remuneration and meeting allowances.

The demand has been put forward by women corporators. Corporators Suman Mathwad, Sarita Wadiyar, Suman Phule and Chandrakanta Sonkamble have tabled a proposal before the civic standing committee.

Currently, corporators get a monthly remuneration of Rs. 1000 and also an allowance of Rs 100 for attending a civic general body meeting. The allowance is given for five meetings per month, a total of Rs 500.

The corpoorators now demand that the remuneration be raised to Rs 5000 and the allowance per meeting to Rs 200.
