Pune, Latur boys are SSC toppers in Maharashtra

MUMBAI, JUNE 22: Students of the Pune and Latur divisions of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education topped the general merit list in the State in the March 1999 SSC examination, scoring 96.53 per cent. Mistri Bilal Iqbal of Anglo Urdu Boy’s High School in Pune and Bangale Shreyas Madhukarrao of Mahatma Phule High School in Babanagar, Nanded, shared the first rank.

Bagade Arpit Subhash from Golden Kids English High School in Amravati scored 95.73 per cent, standing second. Mumbai topper Patil Rakesh Ukhajirao of Mulund Vidya Mandir stood third in the State.

Among girls, Renuka Anant Bedre from Nutan Marathi Vidyalaya Girl’s High School in Pune stood first, scoring 94 per cent. Aurangabad and Latur divisions shared the second rank with 93.60 per cent. Ashwini V Aroskar from St Teresa’s Convent High School in Mumbai stood third in the state with 93.06 per cent.

Manisha Shivajirao Chate from Sharda Mandir Girl’s High School in Aurangabad stood first among backward classcandidates with 93.60 per cent.

Mumbai division of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Education came up with the best results in the state, with an all-time high of 74.32 per cent. Pune followed close with a pass percentage of 74.26, while Nashik came third with 73.86.

The overall pass percentage in the state is 68.11.

Considering the gender-wise performance of fresh candidates, girl students have performed best in the Nashik division, with 76.56 per cent as against a score of 72.08 per cent among boys. Except in Nagpur division, girls have scored a better percentage than boys.
