Award for Lahoti
Fashion choreographer Shefali Lahoti of Pune was awarded the `Outstanding Young Indian’ title by the Indian Junior Chamber – a youth organisation. She received the citation during the 43rd national convention held at Ahmedabad.
Her nomination has been sent to the Junior Chamber International for `The outstanding young persons of the World ’99 award’ to be held at the World Congress in June this year at France. Shefali has been awarded the honour in the category of cultural achievements for her contribution among nominations from 20 zones of the Indian Junior Chamber.
Lions Club conference
Novelist and columnist Shobha De will be the chief guest at the regional conference of the Lions Club District (323 D2) to be held at Hotel Garden Court on January 10. A total of 14 Lion Clubs and 500 Lion members will participate. As part of this conference a mega Jaipur foot camp is also underway at the Sancheti Hospital.
Casio bags prize
Casio company bagged the first prize in the best stall competition organised by the Pune Review ’98 exhibition. Prizes were distributed by the Pune Cantonment Board vice-president Nizam Kazi. Other stalls which bagged prizes included Fly Ban, Rupee Cooperative Bank, LML Scooters and others.
Road Safety Week
The Regional Transport Officer, Pune in association with the Traffic Department, will observe the 10th Road Safety Week from January 4 – 10. Bajaj Auto Ltd along with Indian Oil Corporation will conduct free safety check-ups for Bajaj vehicles at their dealership. A PUC certificate will be issued at the subsidised rate of Rs 10. Two-wheeler owners have been urged to participate in such camps and get their vehicles checked for various safety parameters.
