Varsity opts for LIC scheme
The University of Pune has decided to accept the Life Insurance Corporation of India’s Group Insurance Scheme (GIS) with accident benefit, for its employees. With 490 employees already having enrolled in the scheme, the varsity has decided that all new employees will have to compulsorily join the scheme.

Whether it was an officer, teacher, clerk or peon, the unfortunate victim of an accident could not immediately avail of funds with a paltry sum being granted from the University fund, said Prof Goraknath Kamble of the Department of Adult and Continuing Education who has been creating awareness about the scheme.
