Sale of ladoos
Pune City Congress Committee (PCC) on Thursday opened its centre at the Congress Bhavan here to sell ladoos to the poor at a cheaper price for Diwali. The ladoos are sold at Rs. 35 per kilo. The centre has already prepared a stock of 18,000 kilos of ladoos. A team of 150 women has been employed for the purpose since October 12. It is proposed to sell 45,000 kilos of ladoos till October 22.
More centres will also be opened on Friday at Nana Peth, Hadapsar society and Dhanakawadi, PCC president Mohan Joshi has stated.
In Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Jain Mahasangh has opened four centres for sale of ladoos at Rs 36 per kilo. The centres are: Vividh Bharati stores, Kasarwadi, Prakash Drug House, Phugewadi, Raj Medicals, Thergaon and Vijaykumar stores, Chinchwadgaon.
Infantry Day

LIC agents feted
Life Insurance Corporation of India felicitated its 93 agents at a function held here on October 10. Dr. Subhash Bhave of the LIC’s western region advisory board was the chief guest. Senior zonal manager Ramashankar Jaiswal spoke.
Pandey elected fellow
Dr Ganesh Pandey, a scientist at the National Chemical Laboratory, has been elected fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi.
