The action up in the air are the hundreds of aircraft circling to land in the airspace above Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark airports. On the ground below, the action is at the chaotic Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) Centre on Long Island that handles upto 7,000 flights a day.
Compared to director Mike Newell’s superb Hugh Grant starrer Four Weddings and a Funeral, Pushing Tin is a huge disappointment. Cusack and Thornton give inspired performances despite a weak script. Jolie, who’s more like a prop here, disappears midway through the film, as quickly as the radar blip from a crashed plane. Blanchett is unrecognisable in a hideous blonde wig and despite her star turn in Elizabeth, has to concede most of the screen time to Cusack and Thornton.
John Cusack eyeballs cool dude Billy Bob Thornton in Pushing Tin.
