
Governors by tomorrow: PM
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said that appointment of new governors in some states and union territories would be made by tomorrow. Asked by reporters at a get-together at the vice president’s house as to when the new governors would be appointed, he said "by tomorrow", while governors of Goa, Mizoram and Gujarat and Lt Governors of Pondicherry, Delhi and Andaman and Nicobar have resigned after the Centre told them to make way for new appointments, Home Minister L K advani had already announced that new governors would be appointed in UP, Rajasthan, MP, Bihar, J&K and Maharashtra.
Dutta new IB chief
NEW DELHI: Shyamal Dutta has been appointed Director Intelligence Bureau. His orders were signed by Prime Minister A B Vajpayee before leaving for Guwahati yesterday, thus ending weeks of speculation on the new head of the sensitive agency. The present DIB, Arun Bhagat, has asked to be relieved on April 17 as he is proceeding on a UNjob.

MUMBAI: The stock markets on Wednesday staged a spectacular rally with bulls getting into action. The BSE sensitive index (Sensex) shot up by 106.57 points as foreign and local players bought shares across the board.
