
FARIDABAD, July 27: More than 20 people were killed and 60 injured when two passenger trains collided at Faridabad near Delhi at 10.40 pm tonight. Rescue operations are on and passengers are being removed from the mangled compartments when this report was filed at the time of going to the press.
The Delhi-bound Himsagar Express was about to leave the Faridabad station when Karnataka Express coming on the same track hit it from behind. “There was a loud thud and passengers who had been sleeping were thrown all around,” said Suresh Jain, a passenger in the Karnataka Express. The injured, most of them from A/C compartments, were rushed to the BK Shah hospital. All trains on the route have been detained.
