PLA ambush claims 8 CRPF men
IMPHAL: Eight CRPF men, including three non-commissioned officers, were killed and four others injured at Langohing area, about 25 km west of here, Tuesday morning, Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Leishangthem Chandramani Singh told the State Assembly. A spokesman of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA), in a statement to local press, claimed responsibility for the ambush.
Postal stir
NEW DELHI: Postal services across the country remained disrupted for the sixth day today with both government and strikers hardening their stands over employees’ demands including regularisation of services of over three lakh extra departmental agents. The unions staged a protest march in Delhi.
Explosives found
AHMEDABAD: About two kg of TNT (explosive) was recovered by a constable from a busy locality of Bhuj in the border district of Kutch, Gujarat. The TNT kept in a bag, was sighted on Sunday night. Soon after the bag was found, army explosive experts werealerted and the material was confirmed as explosive.
India elected
NEW DELHI: India has been elected as the first chairman of a new standing committee on information technology related to intellectual property rights. The body replaces World Intellectual Property Organisation’s earlier permanent committee on industrial property information.
