Bihar court summons Azhar

JAMSHEDPUR: Indian skipper Mohammed Azharuddin was summoned by a district court to appear before it on February 12 for alleged derogatory remarks against the people of Bihar. First class judicial magistrate L P Choubey issued the summons taking cognizance in a case filed by advocate S K Sinha for Azharuddin’s alleged derogatory remarks on February 6 at Keenan stadium.

Cops convicted

PATNA: The Patna High Court on Tuesday convicted nine policemen for assaulting the Bhagalpur additional district and sessions judge and ransacking the court. A division bench of the court sentenced the officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station K D Chaudhary to three months and others to one month’s simple imprisonment for contempt of court. The bench however exonerated the suspended district police superintendent, A Natrajan.
