Transfer of Jaya case: TN moves SC

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu today filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging the validity of Centre’s recent notification on transfer of cases against AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha saying it has not been approved by the Madras High Court.

Meanwhile, a special judge today held that criminal proceedings initiated against Jayalalitha in the Hotel Pleasant Stay case was in no way related to any legislative action and hence the petitioners were not entitled to any immunity from legal action.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court today reserved its order for March five on a petition challenging dismissal of Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat as naval chief after the attorney general and the petitioner argued at length to put their point of views against and for the mainainability’ of the plea.

NEW DELHI: The Akali Dal infighting in Punjab has sparked off factional polarisation in Delhi, with the Shiromani Akali Dal’s Delhi unitissuing show-cause notices to 12 loyalists of Gurcharan Singh Tohra, who is the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief. The notices were issued for opposing the appointment of the new Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Puran Singh.
