No unilateral move against neutral Naidu

CHENNAI: DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday opposed any unilateral action to expel the TDP from the Front for its decision to remain neutral when the BJP government seeks a trust vote in Parliament. Karunanidhi said the issue should be discussed by the UF steering committee before arriving at any decision. His sharp reaction is seen as a rebuff to the decision taken at

an informal meeting of core committee members of the Front in Delhi on Monday.

Box bombs seized

CHENNAI: Less than a month after serial bomb blasts killed 60 people in Coimbatore, police on Tuesday seized three powerful box bombs containing 45 kg of explosives and detonators which were planned to be set off on the eve of the swearing-in of the BJP-led government on March 19. Six suspected Al-Umma activists, five of them from Coimbatore, have been arrested.

LUCKNOW: Mohammad Shafi Qureshi was today sworn-in as UttarPradesh Governor. Qureshi, who will be holding additional charge of UP besides his Governorship of Madhya Pradesh, was administered the oath by Allahabad High Court chief justice D P Mahapatra at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan.
