
SC rejects Govt plea on Rent Act
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to pass orders on the Maharashtra government’s request to be permitted to continue with the 50-year-old Rent Control Act due to expire on March 31. The court said it would keep the state government’s petition for review of an earlier judgment holding the Act to be "unreasonable and arbitrary" pending till April 17.
