NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet today cleared the proposal to hike salaries of judges and chief justices of High Courts and the Supreme Court respectively. Under the proposal, the salary of HC judges will be increased from Rs 8000 to Rs 26,000, that of the Chief Justice of the High Courts and Apex Court judges to be hiked to Rs 30,000. The salary of the Chief Justice of India was proposed to be raised to Rs 33,000. An ordinance will be issued after the proposal is cleared by the President.
