NEW DELHI: THE Janata Dal Political Affairs Committee (PAC) is to meet here on Tuesday to explore the possibility of evolving a consensus on the party president’s post. The JD organisational polls are slated for June 10. Hectic efforts in the JD are being made to avoid the polls and elect the leaders through consensus.

CBI ex-chief dead

NEW DELHI: THE founder director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Dharamnath Prasad Kohli, died here on Monday morning following a heart attack. He was 90. Kohli had played a key role in drafting the CBI crime manual and the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act which now governs the agency’s functioning.

Thackeray remark

MUMBAI: SHIV Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s formula for declaration of the disputed site at Ayodhya as a national monument was not acceptable without certain clarifications, Syed Shahabuddin said here on Monday.

Hawala charges

NEW DELHI: SPECIAL judge V B Gupta today reserved his orders for framing of charges against former ministers Sharad Yadav, Chandram and B D Dhakney in the Rs 65 crore hawala case. The orders for Congress leaders N D Tiwari, Arjun Singh, Madhavrao Scindia and R K Dhawan will be pronounced on May 28.
