MUMBAI: Kamlavati Jain, wife of late Padmabhushan Sahu Shreyans Prasad Jain, expired in Mumbai yesterday morning after a brief illness. She was 85. She is survived by three sons, Dr Shashi Chand Jain, Sharad Kumar Jain, Pramod Kumar Jain and one daughter, Saroj Goenka. She was involved in several religious and social activities.She was cremated at the Chandanwadi electric crematorium in the afternoon. The funeral was attended by prominent persons.Award for scribesNEW DELHI: The first Prem Bhatia Award for Excellence in Political Reporting is to go to Harish Khare, New Delhi-based Deputy Editor of The Hindu. The award, carrying a citation and Rs 1 lakh, is to presented here on August 11.Aasha Khosa, the Srinagar-based Special Correspondent of The Indian Express, is to receive the Prem Bhatia Scholarship for Media-related issues. She will be awarded Rs 40,000 for her research project `Covering Insurgency in Kashmir since 1989'. The scholarship is sponsored by the K C Mahindra Education Trust. The jury comprised Nikhil Chakravarty, Prabash Joshi, SK Singh and Ajit Bhattacharjea.DTH bannedMUMBAI: The Government has banned use of the Direct-to- Home (DTH) television service from satellite in the country. A gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Communications has prohibited use of equipment for broadcasting and receiving signals in frequency bands 4800 MHZ and above.
