
Haryana’s Rachna Govil, working as director with Sports Authority of India in Delhi, upset the top ranking air pistol women shooters by winning the national title here today. She was ranked fourth at the qualifying round with a score of 377/400, but with an excellent performance of 100.1 in the finals she won gold in the 10m at the 51st National Shooting Championship at Rifle Club.
ONGC’s Shweta Chaudhary, an international shooter was at number 1 after qualifying round, but eventually finished second with a score of 381+95.3. Heena Sidhu of Punjab won bronze.
In the women’s 10m air rifle team event, Punjab won gold followed by CRPF and Maharashtra. Heena won gold in the 10m air pistol junior event. Ruby Tomar of Punjab bagged silver while bronze went to Vidya Jadhav of Maharashtra. In the team competition, Maharashtra pocketed gold, Punjab got silver and Uttar Pradesh bronze.
In the 25m standard pistol men, Vijay Kumar (572) of Army hit gold while Samresh Jung of CISF got silver and Amanpreet Singh of Indian Airlines bronze. In the team event, Army got gold, Navy silver and Maharashtra bagged silver.
