Radhika, Sonal enter final

Radhika proved too strong for fourth-seeded Lisa who looked tired after her under-14 semifinal which she won beating Isha Lakhani 6-3, 6-3. Lisa provided Radhika some resistance in the first set that went to the tie-breaker. Radhika’s nerves held firm in the tie-breaker as she clinched the set. After that she grabbed the match, not losing another game while winning the second set and match.

Unseeded Rohan Gajjar created a major upset, trouncing sixth seed Kunal Bhojwani to storm into the boys’ under-16 semifinal. Gajjar took the lead, winning the first set 6-3 but Bhojwani came strongly back to level scores, winning the second at 6-2. The third set ran into stormy weather midway through with Gajjar upset with some umpiring decisions. But he booked a berth in the last four after a couple of strong forehands.

Top seeded Tembe also sailed into the semifinals. He downed seventh-seed Nilesh Saldanha 6-1,z 6-3. Saldanha had himself to blame after some good tennis in the tournament. He erred on numerous occasions, making it easier for Tembe. Second seed Dipesh Rao and third seed Abhijit Muzumdar are the other semifinalists.
