NEW DELHI, July 30: It was a comic situation yet again at the DHA Institutional League at the Shivaji Stadium. Unlike in the past few days, when teams had failed to turn up for their scheduled match, Railway Board had made it to the ground with just seven players, minus a goalkeeper for their match against Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

And, expectedly, BEL made most of the situation and drubbed Railway Board 5-0 in a one-sided affair. BEL banged in four goals by breather but somehow failed to repeat the feat in the second session and scored just once. All the while, the Railway Board members were mere spectators, not knowing how to stop the onslaught unleashed by BEL.

Outside-left Ashok Sharma provided the lead within five minutes into the game off a cross from right. Mohammad Ishaq increased the tally in the 15th minute and within the next three minutes N.S. Negi made it 3-0. Mahesh Sharma accounted for the fourth in the 29th minute.

On resumption, BEL kept toyin with their opponents for most part but failed to penetrate till nside-right M.S. Negi forced the pace to complete the tally.

In the second match of the day, Northern Railway defeated State Bank of India 3-1 after a barren first half.

Northern Railway and SBI played a wait and watch game in the first session but soon after change of ends, the railwaymen found the target quite easily as Karambir Singh struck first in the 40th minute. Soon Sukhwinder Walia made it 2-0 but found Sukhdev Singh of SBI reducing the margin in the 53rd minute off a penalty corneer. But within three minutes Parmod Kumar made it beyond SBI’s reach with a crisp shot for a 3-1 lead for NR.
